Witnesses saw the driver’s car strike a utility pole near an intersection. The driver then got out of the car and wandered through a number of backyards before making it home. The woman was in an elevator in Washington Heights visiting a friend when the elevator fell on her way out of the building. The officer, a member of the San Marcos police force, stopped a couple for speeding when they were rushing their poodle Missy to the vet. The dog was very sick and died while going to the vet as a result of the 20-minute traffic stop.
